Student Life

Before, During & Afterschool Programs

St. Rocco School offers a variety of before, during & after school programs. These activities and/or clubs are available to students of various grade levels throughtout the school year. All clubs have a faculty member(s) as an instructor or advisor. Our goal is to enable students the opportunity to expand beyond the curriculum. All specific information and details are included in our Thursday packets.

Middle School Subject After-School Program

The middle school students have the opportunity to attend subject nights from 2:30pm-4pm each afternoon. This affords them the opportunity to receive extra help with their subject teacher.  

Monday: Science ~ Mrs. Montecalvo

Thursday: Spanish and Grades 7 and 8 Religion ~Sister Mary Antoinette

Saint Rocco School Honor Society

The Saint Rocco School Honor Society meetings are every other Tuesday morning starting at 7:40 a.m. in the Music Room.

Student Council

Our Student Council is comprised of students in grades 6- 8. The council meets every other Tuesday morning from 7:40am-8:00am to plan and implement school activities including school dances, bake sales, and outreach programs to the community.

Afterschool Dance Program Fall Session 

The Afterschool Dance Program is for boys and girls in grades K-4.  Classess will be held every Wednesday in the church hall.  Mrs. Denise DiPippo, dance instructor of Denise's Dance Studio in Johnston, will be teaching the class along with the help of her dance instructor assistants.  Classes will consist of Stretch, Corner Work, Jazz and Hip Hop cominations to various types of music.

The After School Club

The After School Club is for students in Grades 1-3.  This club will explore a variety of Seasonal and Holiday Crafs, Art Projects, Skits, Science Experiments and Children's Literature and Poetry in a creative and 'Fun' way.

The Newspaper Club

This club is for students in grades 6-8.  It will meet once a week on Thursdays, producing one edition per month. Students will get a chance to interview people and research stories, proof stories and accomplish as many real newspaper tasks as possible. There will be four pages—news, editorial, entertainment and sports.  

Prayer Group

Sister Daisy Kollamparampil has facilitated a prayer group for the last seven years known as the Friends of Jesus.  This group is open to all students in Grades K-8.  The focus of this group is to continue the teaching of Jesus and to experience his unconditional love through prayer, fellowship, and activities.  We invite you and your child to join this group and experience the power of prayer together.

Students in grades 4 through 8 have the opportunity to join the school choir. See monthly calendar for time and dates. Students are involved in singing for special school activities and masses as well as for the local community. The choir also plays a vital role in our musical drama /talent showcase in the spring.

St. Rocco School provides the opportunity for students in the middle school and advanced choir to experience drama, music, and dance through the music curriculum. This outlet gives them a chance to participate in some way whether on stage or behind the scenes to create a musical performance in the spring of each year.
